I read "The Brains Way of Healing" by Norman Doidge, MD. He described a scenario where people were able to meditate on blue and black colors to relax their eye muscles and promote healing. I tried to find photos of blue and black colors to use but was not happy with what I found. I decided to create my own. I had a friend who is a fine art painter. She liked oil paint the most. I have always enjoyed looking at oil paintings and liked them more than any other medium, so I chose oil also. That is what launched me into what you see above.
My goal was to have 50% blue and 50% black. I came up with ways to do that and tried to make it interesting. I spent a lot of time measuring for some of these. It was kind of crazy, but it was really gratifying when it was done. I made a lot of mistakes that turned out to be "Happy Accidents" as the great Bob Ross would say. The lines you see were an accident. They cause a neat effect when you look at the paintings from different angles because of the way light hits them. Some of them actually change and have a bit of an illusion - this was not something I set out to do - it just happened. I have had no training - I went to get a lesson, and the teacher told me she did not consider what I want to do as art! :-) My eyes are better now so I am probably going to start trying different things.
